ACS-Affordable Cleaning Services is a local, family-owned cleaning company that has been in business since 2012 serving the Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty area. We are currently looking to fill the position of “Summer Seasonal Environmental Technicians (1099 independent contractor)”. 


We offer flexible hours and opportunities to join the ACS team as a permanent employee. We are currently hiring full and part-time laborers for our residential cleaning crews. We have a surplus of property turnover and we need your help!



What are Summer Seasonal Environmental Technicians expected to do?


Seasonal Environmental Technicians perform any combination of deep cleaning duties to restore a home/unit that has been vacated (or recently under construction) to the cleanest possible state, ensuring that it is ready for a new tenant. NOTE: Seasonal  Environmental technicians may require training in the performance of 2 or more areas such as carpet cleaning, commercial, or residential cleaning. Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, completion of ACS training program. Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English to communicate with clients and co-workers. Driver’s license/reliable transportation required. Smartphone required.



Major Job Duties and Responsibilities for Seasonal Summer Technicians:



Clean client’s property including hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, stairways, bathrooms, kitchens, thresholds, appliances and other areas so that ACS Clean standards are met.

  • Cleaning of the bathroom(s)

    • Toilets inside and out

    • Dust lights

    • Sinks/vanity counter and drawers, etc.

    • Clean all light fixtures

    • Wash windows inside/sills, tracks, and blinds

    • Tub and/or shower

    • Sweep and mop floor and baseboards

    • Wipe doorknobs, switches, plates

  • Clean the kitchen

    • Wipe counters (and items on counter), tables, appliance fronts

    • Clean microwave inside and out

    • Clean inside and outside of refrigerator and pullout to clean behind

    • Clean stove top, oven, and clean underneath

    • Clean inside of cupboards and drawers

    • Wash windows inside, sills, tracks, and blinds

    • Clean all light fixtures

    • Empty trash and wipe down garbage can

    • Wash dishes

    • Empty dishwasher

    • Wipe switches and plug plates

    • Sweep and mop floor

  • Clean living room, bedrooms, dining room, entry, sunporch, family room, home office(s), etc.

    • Dust all furniture

    • Pick items up from floor and place in laundry or place neatly as instructed

    • Sweep and mop or vacuum floors

    • Wipe all doorknobs and switches

    • Clean windows as instructed

    • Dust blinds

  • Laundry room

    • Wipe down washer and dryer and clean lint filter

    • Clean behind washer and dryer

    • Sweep and mop floor

  • Furnace area, sunporches, garages as requested

  • Clean vents



Anticipated Scheduling


Monday through Friday:


Start times range from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the shift lasting between 6-8 hours total. 


Saturday and Sunday:


NOT A TYPICAL WORKING DAY, BUT OCCASIONALLY WILL HAVE WORK.

Rate of Pay


As an independent contractor, you can make up to $33/hour. Rates of pay are contracted by ACS based upon type of property, cleaning, and duties being carried out satisfactorily.
